He atua mo ngā riri whenua

Rūaumoko is god of volcanoes and earthquakes. He was being breastfed by his mother Papatūānuku as she separated from his father Ranginui. She rolled over to protect him which is why he lives in the underworld. Earthquakes or volcanoes occur when Rūaumoko becomes restless.
