Photographs From The Passenger Side
While driving down the road, we see some breathtaking views. While nothing beats the vista at the end of a rigorous hike, there is something invigorating in the serendipity of encountering a dramatic scene by just cornering a bend in the road. It feels like a gift. So I take pictures, lots of pictures, often very blurry pictures, from the car as we speed down highways, wind down dirt roads, or even when we are paused at a stop sign. These are a few choice shots.

While driving down I-90, we encountered this truck load of incredibly adorable piglets. They will be bacon one day.
If you are going to leave your dog in the car, this is the way to do it: in an open topped convertible.
In front of the cannabis distributor, we came across the most interesting trailer of late: an oversized boombox. Questions remaining: does it actually play music?

Deserts are often considered to be synonymous with desolation. They are seen as barren tracts of sand dunes to travers in flowing white robes astride a camel or stallion in Lawrence of Arabia style. Yet, deserts are incredibly diverse ecosystems and the Mojave spans a wide range of territory including parts of California, Nevada, and Arizona. Along with sand dunes and hot springs, the Mojave is home to a brilliant array of wildflowers.

For your consideration, we present: PUMPNIT—a vanity license plate we encountered at a pungent rest stop in Utah. It took a heavy foot on the accelerator to keep pace with the truck in order to preserve this moment for posterity in photographic form.
