Today’s Fort Clatsop is barely a decade old and based on little more than a floor plan which was recorded by the expedition.  The roofline and construction is a matter of conjecture, but it’s position is not.  We fortuitously rolled in during a living history day, when costumed docents explained writing with quills, Native American relations, and wilderness resources.

Nearby the fort is the Fort Catslop Museum with interpretive displays and a documentary about Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery.

Inside the fort, rooms were augmented with examples of clothes and tools similar to what would have been used at the original fort.
