Step-by-step DIY replacing of a leaky vintage truck camper cabover window by installing a new, double paned, aerodynamic, and modern RV window.

The cabover windows have been a source of much angst among the Roam Lab crew. It’s one of the most visible windows. It also leaks. While we are reticent to change the exterior appearance of the camper, this is our most notable deviation. We first looked for two small windows to match the original set. But eventually decided to update the look with one, long futuristic window.

Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum

Visiting the Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum in Amarillo, Texas

A lot of our route is flexible, given the winter weather. But the Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum has been on our list of stops ever since we discovered that they also have an 1970 Avion truck camper on display—the same year as ours! Unlike ours, it has been maintained in its original condition. This includes the original and rather strange three jack point formation and period interior.

Adventurer Truck Campers

Today we finally got around to viewing some truck campers. We had been researching different campers for quite a while but there are limited vendors that actually stock and sell truck bed campers. If you go to a Camping World there will mostly be RVs, 5-wheels, and trailers. Maybe fewer people want truck bed campers because they are smaller, but it's that size that allows a nimbleness in travel that no other camper provides.
