Chicken, Mozzarella, And Basil Crescents Campfire Cooking
After all the hurly burly of a recent get-together was done and many Spit Fire Hot Dogs were consumed, I still had some more crescent rolls left. Some, I turned into a Dutch Oven Breakfast Ring, but another roll of dough remained. Along with the remaining dough, I had a chicken breast, mozzarella, and basil. A plan formed and some Chicken, Mozzarella, And Basil Crescents were consumed.
Chicken, Mozzarella, And Basil Crescents Recipe
Serves 2-4
Ingredients
- 8 crescent dinner rolls (one package)
- 1 chicken breast, cooked
- 8 basil leaves
- 8 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
- Salt
- Pepper
Equipment
- Cast Iron Dutch Oven (a cookie sheet could also work but it makes it much more difficult to manage the temperature)
- Cast Iron Cooking Tripod (This is more optional depending on the features of your fire pit)
Directions
Crescent rolls are intentionally designed to be easy to make. Fortunately, their design also makes it easy to add items to the dough before rolling it up and baking the roll. Stack a slice of chicken, cheese, and a basil leaf on the triangle of dough. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on top. Roll it all into a crescent roll. Do this with all the crescent dough and then bake in the dutch oven until the pastry is golden brown. Enjoy!
